University of Aveiro hosts DICOM base standard group meeting

by Susana Brás,  0 Comments

IEETA was honored to host the DICOM Base Standard Group meeting from November 6 to 10. This normalization committee ensures consistency in the DICOM Standard used for medical imaging storage, communication, and visualization across healthcare institutions.

Comprising members from major manufacturers, including Siemens, Philips, and Canon, this committee provides essential technical guidance to all working groups and serves as the central point for technical coordination. Their focus extends to developing extensions to the DICOM Standard, primarily directed towards overall systems enhancements.

This meeting shows our commitment to advancing medical imaging standards, and it results from the longstanding development efforts of the Dicoogle Open-Source Project (www.dicoogle.com), led by Prof. Carlos Costa, researcher at IEETA.

We are proud to be part of these essential discussions, contributing to the evolution of standards that underpin critical aspects of medical imaging.
