Summary:
Time is a strategic aspect when modeling Context-aware Systems. Despite natural and consensual perception of time, the integrated modeling of its dimensions for the development of context-aware software is an open research topic. Context Histories store the Past, Profile Management allows to model the Present and Context Prediction anticipates the Future. This talk addresses the modeling of these three temporal dimensions, indicates challenges for handling each dimension, discusses a system architecture to integrate the management of temporal dimensions in context-aware computing, highlights advanced strategies for managing context histories (similarity analysis, pattern analysis), and, finally, addresses application areas in Ambient Intelligence such as Accessibility, Agriculture, Healthcare, Industry, Learning, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Wellbeing,

Jorge Barbosa is a full professor and researcher at University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos, Brazil), conducting activities mainly in two graduate programs: Applied Computing and Electrical Engineering. He obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil) and conducted post-doctoral studies at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU, South Korea) and University of California Irvine (UCI, USA). Jorge is a Researcher of Productivity in Technological Development and Innovative Extension (DT researcher) at Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil). His topics of interested are Ambient Intelligence, Behavior Technologies, Games Development, Human-centered Technologies, Ubiquitous Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Intelligent Cities, Machine Learning and Smart Environments. Jorge stands out in research related to Context Histories and their use for modeling temporal aspects (past, present and future) with special dedication to Context Prediction through similarity and pattern analysis. His main areas of application are Accessibility, Agriculture, Commerce, Healthcare, Industry, Learning, Logistics, Mental Health and Wellbeing.
