We are proud to announce that Ana Martins, a PhD student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Aveiro (UA), was invited to present her research on new space-time statistical models for a series of counts, at the conference held by The European Young Statisticians Meetings (EYSM) of the Bernoulli Society, from September 11th to15th, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The EYSM is a series of conferences that are organized by and for young European statisticians. It is also a very selective conference of young statisticians in Europe, organized under the auspices of the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability.
The EYSM aims to advance the sciences of probability and mathematical statistics and their applications to all those aspects of human endeavor, which are directed towards increasing natural knowledge and the welfare of mankind.
This year, the research developed at UA concerning space-time statistical models for a series of counts was selected to participate in oral communication.
The work is being developed by the PhD student in Applied Mathematics, Ana Martins, (MAP-PDMA, a joint program of Minho-Aveiro-Porto universities) under the scientific guidance of the researchers Sónia Gouveia (Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro of the University of Aveiro (UA), Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the UA and Intelligent Systems Associate Laboratory (LASI), Portugal), Manuel Scotto (Center for Computational and Stochastic Mathematics – University of Lisbon and Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal) and Christian H. Weiss (Helmuth-Schmidt University, Germany).
Participation at the EYSM 2023 is by invitation only. This application was sponsored by the Portuguese Statistical Society and constituted the Portuguese representation at the event.
