Ana Martins, researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA) – www.ieeta.pt – has won the 2024 edition of the Portuguese Statistical Society (SPE) prize. This prize is awarded annually to young researchers in recognition of their contributions to this field of knowledge.
The research presented “On the theory of spatio-temporal models for time series of counts” was awarded for its quality, clarity and scientific rigour, as well as for its significant contribution to the theory of spatio-temporal models applied to time series of counts (https://www.spestatistica.pt/en/news/premio-spe-2024-2).
The awarded work was developed as part of her Doctorate in Mathematics and Applications at Universidade de Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Sónia Gouveia (University of Aveiro and IEETA), Manuel Scotto (Instituto Superior Técnico and CEMAT), and Christian Weiß (Helmut Schmidt University, Hamburg, Germany).
The prize will be awarded at the XXVII Congress of the Portuguese Statistical Society (https://spe2025.mozellosite.com/), to be held at the University of the Algarve in October, and will include a presentation of the awarded research.
