New Details

This week, Sónia Gouveia participated in the cycle “Física à Conversa” dedicated to the discussion of the main challenges for computation in this new era of emerging Artificial Intelligence(AI) organised by the Department of Physics of Aveiro University.

The panel discussion was moderated by Miguel Zilhão (DFis/CIDMA), and beyond the academic perspective conveyed by Sónia Gouveia (DETI/IEETA)
and Madga Sousa (DFis/CESAM), João Santiago and Diogo Seixas (LTPLabs) brought the insight on how AI is impacting the industry.

Over one and a half hour, topics such as how AI can be used to accelerate research and, to improve efficiency in procedures were discussed. Moreover, the pros and cons of the use of AI by students and how it can affect their learning process was a central discussion point. The debate also considered ethical and financial challenges of AI both for academic and industry settings.

This was a truly engaging discussion, with the audience actively participating and raising interesting questions and points of view!
