Júlia Ramos, PhD student at the IEETA, DETI, within the MAPi doctoral program, was distinguished with the Best Pitch Award at the 2nd Aalborg Symposium in Advances in Rehabilitation Robotics, held at Aalborg University.
The symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, students, users, and industry representatives to discuss recent advances in rehabilitation robotics, assistive technologies, and user-centered solutions for people with neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke, and ALS.
Júlia Ramos’ award-winning pitch focused on the application of a Human-Centered Design (HCD) methodology in the development of Brain-Machine Interfaces (BMIs). Her presentation highlighted the importance of designing rehabilitation technologies that consider the real needs, expectations, limitations, and experiences of end users, aiming to foster more effective and meaningful solutions for real-world rehabilitation contexts.
This recognition highlights the impact of IEETA’s research in the intersection of technology, healthcare, and human-centered innovation.
