IberSPEECH 2024, the premier event for the speech and language technology community focusing on Iberian languages, will take place from November 11-13 at the University of Aveiro. This biennial international conference brings together researchers, professionals, and academics to discuss advancements and challenges in speech and language technologies.
Following the tradition of previous editions, the three-day conference aims to foster interaction among participants and create an inclusive environment for early-career researchers and students, encouraging the next generation to push the boundaries of speech technologies.
The program will feature a wide range of activities: paper presentations, keynote lectures, project and PhD thesis presentations, demonstrations, and a roundtable discussion with industry representatives. Notably, there will be two keynote addresses, both timely and highly relevant to our future: “Large Language Models for Speech Processing,” by Andreas Stolcke (Distinguished Scientist at Uniphore, USA); and “Past and Present (and Future) of Speech Technologies for the Screening of Parkinson’s Disease,” by Juan Godino-Llorente (Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain).
The IberSPEECH is organized by the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA), with several of its members playing key roles: General Chair (António Teixeira), Technical Program Co-Chair (Samuel Silva), and members of the Technical Program Committee (Catarina Oliveira, Mário Rodrigues, Luciana Albuquerque).
The organization is supported by the Red Temática en Tecnologías del Habla (RTTH) and the Special Interest Group on Iberian Languages (SIG-IL) of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA), the leading scientific organization in the field. This conference serves as a platform to foster collaboration and promote research in Iberian languages, supporting the growth and dissemination of speech and language technologies. Additionally, the event seeks to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
