As a new semester begins, it’s worth highlighting the role of the research units at the University of Aveiro in supporting the academic community and attracting new talents.
One such example is the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA) (https://www.ieeta.pt), which has already welcomed more than 550 visitors since February 2023, including students, professors, and other members of the community from various schools, universities, as well as national and international institutions.
These visits were carried out in the context of various events, including the Blended Intensive Program in Health Literacy – ERASMUS+, Xperimenta UA, National Meeting of Physics Students (ENEF), National Meeting of Biomedical Engineering Students (ENEEB), Promotion to General Officer Course, Curso de promoção a Oficial General; Academia de Verão UA, Encontro Internacional da Casa das Ciências, among others.
These activities are the result of the efforts of the institute’s members, who conduct their research in a multidisciplinary environment and show a constant interest in promoting knowledge and science dissemination. In this context, visitors had the opportunity to participate in various lectures and demonstrations in areas such as virtual and augmented reality, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, biosignals, and emotions, as well as multimodal interaction, and robotics, among others.
IEETA is one of the research units of DETI – Department of Electronics and Informatics Engineering at the University of Aveiro, and its main mission is to put the knowledge of its members at the service of developing intelligent systems to support various human activities, assisting in problem-solving in various knowledge domains. Over the years, the impact of the research conducted at IEETA has been felt not only at the national level but also internationally, resulting in numerous publications and awards. IEETA is also a member of LASI – Intelligent Systems Associate Laboratory, a leading group in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Portugal.
