The Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) Aveiro is organizing the 10th edition of the BEST Course, focusing on “Data Science: From UnDATAble to a Perfect Match”, from July 24th to 31st, at the Universidade de Aveiro (UAveiro).

For the eight-day event, participants will attend various classes, with topics including classic Machine Learning algorithms to Deep Learning architectures, namely Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs).

The course will also cover visualization and effective data representation, methods for analyzing time series data and natural language processing (NLP), with an emphasis on Large Language Models (LLMs).

The event features theoretical presentations, discussion moments and practical laboratory sessions.

Participants who achieve a positive classification in this summer course will be awarded 1.5 ECTs.

The 2024 edition is enrolling 21 participants from 18 different countries, selected from over 250 applicants who, in addition to the academic component, will be able to enjoy the cultural aspect of the course and get to know Aveiro uniquely.

In this edition, the course will have as instructors Petia Georgieva, Sérgio Matos, Beatriz Sousa Santos, Paulo Dias, and Sónia Gouveia (from left to right in the photo), teachers at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) of UAveiro and researchers at the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA).

The course is organized by Alexandra de Carvalho, Ana Malta, Diogo Prata, Inês Leite and José Silva, all DETI students.

BEST is a voluntary, non-profit organization of STEM students with a presence throughout Europe.
