Maria João, an IEETA PhD student was recently awarded an Honorable Mention for Poster Communication presented at the 6th Statistics on Health Decision Making: Artificial Intelligence (here). Maria João presented and discussed her research work “A method for improving the generation of viral consensus sequences using adaptative models” developed with the scientific guidance of the IEETA researcher Diogo Pratas. Maria João’s work has been contributing to this field by providing innovative methods for enhancing the generation of viral consensus sequences, which is crucial for accurate viral detection and treatment strategies.
The event also featured IEETA researchers José Luis Oliveira and Sónia Gouveia; the first as speaker and the second as moderator of the session. José Luis presented “Open and Closed Data in Clinical Research”, exploring the implications, benefits and challenges of using different types of data from different research institutions, in clinical research. This talk provided perspectives on how open data can enhance collaboration and innovation, while also addressing the importance of privacy and security in closed data systems.
