Dr Maria Perdomo presents seminar on the persistent human virome at IEETA
Maria Perdomo presented the seminar “A Lasting Footprint – When Viruses Stick Around: Decoding the Persistent Human Virome in Health and Disease” at IEETA, University of Aveiro, in a session hosted by Diogo Pratas.
The seminar explored the persistent human virome and the role of viruses that remain in the human body over long periods of time, addressing their diversity, persistence in human tissues, and potential impact on health and disease. The talk brought together perspectives from virology, genomics, and bioinformatics, highlighting computational and genomic approaches for identifying and characterizing persistent viruses and their interactions with the human host.
The event brought together researchers, professors, students, and other members of the academic community and concluded with a discussion and Q&A session.
