Nuno Teixeira Gomes, a PhD student in the MAPi Doctoral Programme at IEETA — the Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro, University of Aveiro — received the Best Local Paper Award at the 31st IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC 2026).
The conference, organized by the IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Computer Society under IEEE Region 8, was held in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, from 23 to 26 June, bringing together researchers from across the field of computer systems and communications.
The award recognized the paper “A Reinforcement Learning Framework for Malicious Activity Verification in Legacy Systems” co-authored by Nuno Teixeira Gomes, João Rafael Almeida, and José Luís Oliveira, all affiliated with IEETA, University of Aveiro. The work forms part of Nuno’s ongoing doctoral research, which focuses on AI-driven DevSecOps approaches for quality assurance and security in legacy web applications.
