What is SIAS?

See also: poster depicting recent group activities/strategy.
SIAS stands for Sistemas e Informação na Área da Saúde (health information and systems). It's a special interest group at the IEETA institute (a research unit of the University of Aveiro).
The SIAS group pursues research and development activities in innovative areas related to the application of new information technologies and systems in health care. These activities can be
described as going from the sensor to the system
grouped along several main research lines
presented in the
above diagram. Each line has
several projects (usually consecutive in time) and for
each project, a specific R&D team is set up, gathering senior researchers and younger students, often scholars.
The group
was created in 1997 by João Paulo Cunha , PhD.
