Brain Imaging & Epilepsy

Brain Imaging is an emerging topic in biomedical engineering today. It involves the "imaging" of all multimodal data sources used to support diagnosis in Neurosciences, from the high temporal resolution multi-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) to the high spatial resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). It also involves their fusion or co-registration to provide better tools for doctors to reach diagnosis. SIAS has been dedicating R&D efforts in Brain Imaging (BI) since its foundation in 1997 being one of its main research lines.

This approach constitutes a "Transverse Action" within IEETA because it gathers different technology areas, such as Signal&Medical imaging processing or Biomedical Video, to approach brain processes or diseases.

The mission we envision to it is:
Offer clinicians more and better information to decide upon a diagnosis based on providing integrated access to multimedia information used in Neurosciences and research new computational tools to approach it.
